Anesthesiology Residency Program

Welcome to the Wayne State University School of Medicine Department of Anesthesiology Residency Program! Our program is a 3 year ACGME accredited program that received continued accreditation in September 2016.  Based out of St. Joseph Mercy Oakland in Pontiac, Michigan, we are sponsored by the St. Joseph Mercy Oakland (WSU Affiliated) Internal Medicine and Surgery Programs.

We currently have two full classes of residents - both CA1 and CA2 years. We will reach our full complement of residents starting in July 2017 with 18 residents in total (6 CA1s, 6 CA2s, and 6 CA3s).  In the coming 2016-2017 ERAS Season we will be recruiting for residents starting in July 2018.

The mission of the Wayne State University School of Medicine Department of Anesthesiology Residency Program is to recruit a diverse set of trainees who will prepare for careers in academics, private practice, and research. We will expose them to clinical research, quality improvement and patient safety issues, and issues of health policy during their training, as well as immerse them in a rich clinical environment, which will groom them for success in the future. Our ultimate goal is to train well-rounded anesthesiologists who are able to think critically, act collaboratively, and thrive in a challenging, fast-paced environment.
