Application Process

Applications to the Wayne State University Department of Anesthesiology Residency Program must be submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service. For more information as to how to apply, please see the ERAS website. Our application requirements can be found in the "Application Requirements" section below.

Within the Department of Anesthesiology Residency Program we an Advanced track. The advanced track is for candidates that will complete a transitional or preliminary medicine year in the 2017-2018 year, and begin their CA1 year in July 2018.

Application Requirements

Required Documents for Application Submitted Through ERAS

  • Letters of Recommendation -- In addition to a Dean's letter from a medical school, three letters of recommendation must be arranged to be sent through ERAS. These letters should attest to the applicant's personal qualifications and scholastic and clinical abilities.
  • Transcripts/Diploma -- A copy of the most recent medical school transcript should be included in the application. If the applicant has completed medical school, a copy of the diploma should accompany the application.
  • ECFMG Certificate -- International Graduates must include a valid (not expired) copy of the ECFMG certificate with the application.
  • J-1 Visas are accepted when sponsored through the ECFMG. No sponsorship of H-1 Visas will be given.
  • No minimum USMLE/COMLEX Score
  • No graduation date cut off

All applicants selected for an interview are interviewed by one or more of the following: the Program Director, Department Chair, Associate Program Director and additional faculty members.

 

Interview Process

Our interview season runs from November 1st through January 30th. If you are selected for an interview, the offer will be extended through the ERAS system from the program coordinator.
